This is short and sweet trek starting from Darjeeling hill. The trail gradually climbs up through forests of rhododendron, giant magnolias, spruce and other trees of sub-alpine region and varieties of orchids. You will also visit ripples of terraced fields of maize, rice, millet and barley. Sandakphu trek offers an opportunity to get the best views of snow-capped mountains which includes Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Kumbhakarna, Kanchenjanga, Chomolhari in a few days walking.
Trip itinerary
Day 01: Arrive Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport and transfer to Darjeeling about 4-5 hrs drive. O/N hotel.
Day 02: Darjeeling sightseeing. Visit Yiga Cholling Monastery, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo and Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre. O/N hotel
Day 03: Drive to Manybanjyang and trek to Tonglo 2800m. 3/4 hrs. Morning view of Kanchendzonga and the surrounding mountains
Day 04: Trek to Garibas 2900m. 5 hrs. Through the forest a home to the rare Red Panda and the Tragopan. A pleasant walk brings to Garibas.
Day 05: Trek to Sandakphu 3600m. 3hrs. This is the main highlight of the trek from here you can see the both highest mountain mt Everest and Kanchenjunga and the sunrise is breath taking.
Day 06: Trek to Mollay 3000m. 6hrs. The whole day walk is beautifully with the mountain view.
Day 07: Trek to Rammam 2500m. 4hrs. This is a jungle walk where you can see the rhododendron, magnolia, silverfirn and oak nut and other species.
Day 08: Trek to Rimbik 2000m. 4hrs. and drive to Kalingpong. O/N hotel.
Day 09: Transfer to Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport about 3-4 hrs (drop only)

We made a very beautiful trekking in Darjeeling naming Sangakphu trek. It did take us 8 days. Three days of climbing on a ridge. We arrived in Seandalepa 3660m and had from there a beautiful view on the Mt. Everest and Kanchenjunga range. That view we enjoyed the whole day while we walked to Molley. After that we walked in or under the clouds. We descended through woods with orchids and small villages and end our trek in Rnbik.
The crew of cooks, horsemen and especially Dawa, our guide were excellent! We are older experienced trekkers and Dawa took good care of us. We can recommend this trip through Abir as he made perfect arrangement for our trip.
