Chitwan National Park




Tour overview

A well-known National Park covering 975 sq. km is situated 162 km in south from kathmnadu. The untamed Jungles that cover its Himalayan foothills beckon with pure adventure. This park is famous for flora and fauna. Deep inside the park, one-horned Rhinos charge through the Elephant grass and Royal Bengal Tigers lurk in the thick bushes, the other animals like gaur, sloth bear, wild boar, deer, monkeys and leopard roam freely. The crocodiles slither with 470 species of colorful rear birds, 56 species of mammals, 126 species of fish, 150 species of butterflies and 47 species of reptiles.

The forest cover is predominantly sal forest, interspersed with tall grasslands, small hills, ox-bow lakes and flood plains. To experience all above and wildlife, please come and visit the park with us.

 

Activities

- Elephant Safari: safest and exiting which venture deep into the Jungle to observe/explore and photograph wildlife from close

- Nature walks: a jungle trek and wild life excursion with trained naturalist to view the incredibly varied flora and fauna of Nepal

- Canoeing: a typical hand made canoe on Rapti or Narayani River viewing Gharial crocodiles and water birds

- Jungle drive: safaris by landrover deep into the jungle for the elderly or sedentary

- Culture program: Stick dance with different items performed by Tharu native people

- Birds watching: As chitwan is home of more than 470 birds, have a wonderful opportunity to see many species of birds in the early morning

- Tharu Village visit: Experience the typical local life style of the Tharus the ancient native people of Chitwan

 

Access

There are many ways to get there as described below-

By road- Five hour scenic drive on the prithivi Highway takes along the banks of the Trisuli River through colorful tharu villages.

 

By air- From kathmandu to Bharatpur airstrip is a half an hour flight and if going to tiger tops can fly to meghauli airstrip where the jeep will be waiting to take you the to the resort.

 

By raft- Enjoy rafting adventure on Trisuli river and transfer to Chitwan

 

What to bring along with

Binoculars, torch, sun glass, sun screen, insect repellent, swim wear, clothes light, comfortable for walk and elephant ride according to the season natural-colored and casual outdoor wears are suggested, walking shoes, insect repellent and personal medical requirements, flash light etc.

 

Season

The best time to visit Chitwan is from October through February, when the temperature averages 25 degrees Celcius. The months of March, April and June can be extremely hot, while July-September is the monsoon season when rivers swell and parts of the park are inaccessible.

 

Accommodation

There are plenty of jungle lodges and hotels from a cottage to bungalow in and around Chitwan, broadly classified as those in the park and those in Sauraha. The lodges in the park are expensive and mostly cater to the package tourist arriving from Kathmandu . For budget accommodation, we book around Sauraha and take your pick of a range of good lodges.
