Trekking Preparation
For trekking to the Himalaya you do not need to be a super athlete nor a mountaineer but a few weeks of training, prior to arriving in Nepal, will enhance your experience. Actually it will not be more enjoyable spending the trip if struggling to walk the trails every day whereas a little sensible preparation before you arrive would make the trails so much more rewarding.
Thus it is essential to be in good physical condition before starting the trek and the best way is to do a lot of walking. At least one-hour hike, jog and cycle a day. While you are training you can also be breaking in those new trekking boats that may otherwise give you blisters on the first day out on the trail. Those who are planning to climb one of the trekking peaks need to be physically very fit and technically experienced. Get as much as information and mentally prepare about Nepal as well as customs

Health and Medicine
Good health is needed for a successful and enjoyable trek so preventive measures such as a thorough medical check up and inoculations before you start trekking can save you from unexpected hazards. As mountain region have not essential for modern medical treatment, it is advised to have a comprehensive First Aid Kit consisting of basic drugs and accessories as part of your gear for trekking. In case of serious illness or injury, prompt evacuation rescue are made though.
Please consult your physician and get a complete check – up before your departure. Make sure that you are well prepared for the trek since lack of fitness can often lead to discomfort or illness. Something as simple as a foot blister can totally ruin a trek, not only for you but also for your companion. The vast majority of diseases that plague the trekker in Nepal are transmitted by food or water contaminated by infected human or animal. However, one should have some knowledge on Acute Mountain Sickness ( AMA) , Diarrhea, Giar-dia, Dysentery, Cholera, Hepatitis, Rabies, Typhoid, Tetanus, Meningitis, Diphtheria, Malaria etc.
Prevention is the best medicine:
Caring in what you eat and drink is the most important. Reputable brands of bottled water or soft drinks are generally fine. Tea or coffee should also be OK since the water would have been boiled. Fruits and salads should be washed with purified water or peeled where possible. Throughly cooked food is the safest but not if it has been left to cool. Stomach upsets are the most likely travel health problem but the majority of these upsets will be relatively minor. Wash your hands frequently clean teeth with purified water rather than straight from the tap. Avoid potential diseases by dressing sensibly. Try to avoid insect bites by covering bare skin when insects are around, by screening windows or by using insect repellents.
