Tibet overland adventure tour

This tour adds much more adventure while driving through the beautiful landscape, high lakes and passes. The views are great of Mt. Everest, Cho-Yo, Cisapangma and scenery along the way. Finally you get to Lhasa city with its rich culture, beautiful and historical monasteries etc. After the exploring the city of Lhasa, you can either fly back to Kathmandu or go further on to your own destination. Tickets are provided in Kathmandu for those flying out to Kathmandu Thus this overland tour is good for almost every average people.

Tour Itinerary -7 Nights/8 Days

Day 01: Kathmandu-Nyalam (3750m)-123 kms.
Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Kodari (Approx 4hrs.). After completing immigration and custom formalities drive uphill to Zhangmu. The Tibetan guide will meet the group on arrival at the check post and proceed to Nyalamu.

Day 02: Nyalam-Tingri (4135m)-215 kms.
Drive about 7 hrs. to Xegar crossing two spectacular passes (Nyalamu pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). This drive offers fantastic view of the high mountains including Mt. Everest (8848m).

Day 03:Tingri-Xegatse (3900m)-245 kms.
Drive about 6 hrs to reach Xigatse, the palace of famous Tashilunpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until his death in 1989 with its huge Thanka wall which is clearly visible from the north side of the road. Enroute you will visit Sakya Monastery, provided the road condition is good. The Monastery is 26 kms off from the main road it is the oldest and most important Bonpo monasteries.

Day 04: Xigatse-Gyantse (3950m)-92 kms.
In the morning visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free bazaar of Xigatse. After lunch embark on a pleasant 2 hrs. drive to Gyantse. Here you will visit the Khumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery.

Day 05: Gyantse-Lhasa (3650m)-260 kms.
Driving to Lhasa takes about 8 hrs, crossing 2 passes the Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) pass and Lake Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake). You will cross the Yarlung Tsangpo river and see the distant view of the Potala Palace.

Day 06/07: Lhasa sight seeing tour.
Visit the Potala Palace, Norbulinka Palace, Drepung & Sera monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar.

Day 08: Lhasa-Kathmandu trans himalayan flight.
Transfer to Gongar Airport, which takes about 02 hrs. driving. The flight duration is 1 hr and 10 min and it is one of the most beautiful flights in the world. On your flight you shall see the Yarlung Tsangpo river, lake Yamdruk, Kanchenjunga (8586m), Makalu (8465m) and Mt. Everest (8848m).
