Sikkim - Goechala / Singalila trek information

Goechala / Singalila trek is indeed one of the most spectacular treks in the entire Sikkim - Indian Himalayas. Goechala trek offers breath-taking views of the Himalayan range from including Mt Kanchenjunga the third highest peaks in the world and the surrounding peaks. The Singalila range is one of the rare spots on earth where the view embraces five summits rising above 8000m including Mt. Everest, Makalu and Lhotse of Nepal.

Singalila trek starts from the trail head at Yuksom, the erstwhile capital of Sikkim in the velvet green of 5,800 feet and goes upto the high point of Goecha La at 4940m.passing through thickly forested ridges crowded with rich flora to the heights above the tree line, finally culminating at the breathtaking snowy heights of the Kanchenjunga National Park and incredible landscape. The trek gives an opportunity to experience Sikkim's flora and fauna naturally spans a wide spectrum, from tropical to alpine magically primeval and intact due to a relatively sparse population. This trek is not only nature adventure but provides a visit of the main Sikkim monasteries such as Pemayangtse, Tashiding, Rumtek with a touch of culture which makes the trip a rare venture.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01:Arrive Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport and transfer to Darjeeling about 4-5 hrs drive. O/N hotel.

Day 02:Darjeeling sightseeing. Visit Yiga Cholling Monastery, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo and Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre. O/N hotel

Day 03:Transfer to Gangtok about 4-5 hrs drive. O/N hotel 

Day 04:Gangtok sightseeing and permit formalities. O/N hotel 

Day 05:Transfer to Yuksam (1780m) about 6 hrs drive. O/N camp 

Day 06:Trek to Bakhim (about 2700m) about 4-5 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 07:Trek to Phedang (3550m) 4-5 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 08:Trek to Thangsing (3850m) about 5 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 09:Trek to Samiti (4200m). O/N camp 

Day 10:Trek to Goechala (4950m) - Samiti - Thangsing. O/N camp

Day 18:Trek to Yambung (3750m) about 4-5 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 19:Trek to Chuzyam (2700m) 5-6 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 20:Trek to Chongri (2350) – Rimbik (1900m) 4-5 hrs. O/N camp 

Day 21:Trek to Nambu (1900m) - Darap (1850m) 3-4 hrs and transfer to Pelling. O/N hotel 

Day 22:Visit Pemayangtse Monastery and transfer to Kalimpong. O/N hotel 

Day 23:Kalimpong sightseeing. O/N hotel 

Day 24:Transfer to Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport about 3-4 hrs (drop only)
