Darjeeling Sangakphu trekking trip information

Sangakphu is short and sweet trek starting from Darjeeling hill. The trekking trail gradually climbs up through forests of rhododendron, giant magnolias, spruce and other trees of sub-alpine region and varieties of orchids. You will also visit ripples of terraced fields of maize, rice, millet and barley. Sandakphu trek offers an opportunity to get the best views of snow-capped mountains which includes Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Kumbhakarna, Kanchenjanga, Chomolhari in a few days walking.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport and transfer to Darjeeling about 4-5 hrs drive. O/N hotel.

Day 2 : Darjeeling sightseeing.

Visit Yiga Cholling Monastery, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo and Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre. O/N hotel

Day 3 : Drive to Manybanjyang and trek to Tonglo 2800m. 3/4 hrs. Morning view of Kanchendzonga and the surrounding mountains

Day 4 : Trek to Garibas 2900m. 5 hrs. Through the forest a home to the rare Red Panda and the Tragopan. A pleasant walk brings to Garibas.

Day 5 : Trek to Sandakphu 3600m. 3hrs. This is the main highlight of the trek from here you can see the both highest mountain mt Everest and Kanchenjunga and the sunrise is breath taking.

Day 6 : Trek to Mollay 3000m. 6hrs. The whole day walk is beautifully with the mountain view.

Day 7 : Trek to Rammam 2500m. 4hrs. This is a jungle walk where you can see the rhododendron, magnolia, silverfirn and oak nut and other species.

Day 8 : Trek to Rimbik 2000m. 4hrs. and drive to Kalingpong. O/N hotel.

Day 9 : Transfer to Bhadrapur/Bagdogra airport about 3-4 hrs (drop only)
