Sun rise tour to Nagarkot and hike to Changu Narayan Temple via Rani Jhula Bridge
Wake up early morning and start driving uphill from Bhaktapur uphill through winding road, pine forest and small villager’s settlement. Upon reaching Nagarkot which is 32km from Kathmandu and one-hour drive, eventually the moment is for viewing stunning sun rise. Enjoy sun rise view and panoramic mountain range, crisp fresh mountain air, take photos then have breakfast. From here the trail descends gradually through terraced farmlands, beautiful Pine forest, and village settlement with traditional houses of locals, the Newari and Tamang ethnic communities greeting with smiles which is of course glimpse into rural life. After a scenic walking of few hours, reach the Rani Jhula suspension bridge stretching across the Sali Nadi River which is another most exciting highlights of the hike. Enjoy the surrounding green hills, walk from one side to other side of the bridge feeling thrill of the height, take photos and take a break for relax.
From here, the hike continues through pleasant downhill and flat paths with charming settlements and beautiful valley view down towards Changu Narayan Temple on atop of small hill. Visit the Temple premises with ancient shrine and monuments, stone inscriptions, carved wooden telling the myths and legends related to Lord Vishnu’s various forms. After having information about Temple’s historical significance, legends and lunch at local restaurant drive back to Kathmandu which completes with enriching experience and unforgettable memories.
